Help keep it safe and running smoothly
13 Nov by CLAC
Dear parents,
A few notes ahead of our next competition... with such big crowds, it's a great community event each week and we hope your families are enjoying it - but we're also keen for your help to keep it safe and easy to run:
U6/7/8: We’ve updated the whiteboard to make it clear we need chaperones as well as coaches for younger groups. If you’d like to be close to the action, pop your name down, grab a hi-vis vest, and join in. It’s an easy role - keeping kids in line, encouraging them, and guiding them to the next event.
Keep the infield clear: You're welcome to watch your athlete's events from the outfield - but please don't hang out in the infield unless you are a volunteer or urgently required. If you have younger siblings, there's a grassy spot over near the start line on the hill that's great for playing. This week we'll have javelin events, so it's really important that these infield spaces are safe for the events being held. We've also observed a trend of younger athletes running to their parents at the finish line - and across Lanes 1 and 2 where bigger kids are doing longer distance races at speed.
Flags - These are for safety - please don’t lift ropes to cross the track or enter restricted spaces like the finish tent,a and remind kids of same.
Supervision - Heath will remind kids Friday, but please help by discouraging untoward behaviours - e.g. climbing on sheds, pulling out equipment, ball games near the track/infield, and poor sportsmanship.
And as ever, we can't do it each week without the fantastic volunteers that get involved - from our committee to those running the start/finish lines, measuring events and diligently recording results on ipads - thank you! This whole thing runs on parent-power... Many hands make light work, and we look forward to everyone stepping in and helping with a couple of events across the season.
See you Friday!
